Legend of Zelda movie director says he wants to create something "serious, but fun"
Sounds like Tingle will fit right in
We still know very little about the upcoming live-action Legend of Zelda movie, but some vague details are starting to emerge. A new interview with director Wes Ball is being released in next week’s issue of Total Film in which he discusses his hopes for the finished product. Previously, he’s compared his vision to something like the works of Hayao Miyazaki.
In one portion of the interview, Ball talks about the kind of tone he’s hoping to strike, as well as the pressure of delivering for longtime fans:
I’ve been thinking about it for a long freakin’ time, of how cool a Zelda movie would be… I want to fulfil people’s greatest desires. I know it’s important, this franchise, to people and I want it to be a serious movie. A real movie that can give people an escape.
That’s the thing I want to try to create – it’s got to feel like something real. Something serious and cool, but fun and whimsical.
It sounds like Ball is working on striking a balance between the intense action and silliness that tends to be a staple of most Zelda games. That would be an encouraging direction, to be sure. We’ll have to wait and see if he’s able to pull it off successfully.
The full interview with Wes Ball will be available in the new issue of Total Film, which comes out on March 28, 2024.
Overwatch 2's future PVE story missions seemingly canceled
This is where the story ends
Last year, Overwatch 2 fans were disappointed to learn that Overwatch 2’s promised PVE ‘Hero Missions’ were no longer being developed. The game did receive a series of PVE content in the form of ‘Story Missions’, however it sounds like there won’t be any more of those in the future either.
According to a report from Bloomberg, the development team’s plans have shifted away from PVE content completely. Any PVE content that may have been in the works up until this point will no longer be finished or released. A Blizzard representative responded to the article, and gave the following statement, which seems to confirm any speculation:
[We are] focusing on the foundational team-based experience, building the game alongside our players, and more quickly addressing their feedback… Decisions like these are in service to our community and based on feedback, which is also good for our business and the future of the game.
A recent article from Kotaku sheds some more light on the behind the scenes issues that may have led to this decision. It sounds like plans were originally in place to have new story missions released every 18 months, but things were repeatedly tied up due to delays and lack of finished content. Some sources indicate that development on the PVE content was too difficult, and Blizzard didn’t feel that the effort to finish the work was justified.
PVE content or no, Overwatch 2 continues to receive updates, and recently announced some big changes for the upcoming Season 10. Stay tuned.

New Switch emulator 'Suyu' making changes to avoid being shut down by Nintendo (UPDATE)
A "legal gray area"
Last week, Nintendo successfully sued the creators of Yuzu, a high profile Switch emulator. As a result, the emulator was shut down completely. In Yuzu’s wake, a new emulator called Suyu is now looking to take its place.
How does Suyu plan on succeeding where Yuzu failed? In a new interview with Ars Technica, the creators share what’s different about their software. First of all, there will no monetization involved whatsoever (unlike Yuzu which had a Patreon page). Suyu will also refrain from giving any specific instructions in regards to emulation, or how and where to acquire the encryption keys needed to run games on their software. Essentially, Suyu looked at the grievances Nintendo had with Yuzu, and is taking the opposite approach in an attempt to avoid any hassle.
According to the Suyu team, they have consulted with a legal professional in order to ensure that they’ll be able to stay afloat. As stated by team contributor and Discord moderator Sharpie, “Suyu currently exists in a legal gray area we are trying to work our way out of. There are multiple plans and possibilities for what to do next. Things are still being organized and planned.”
Suyu will have a slow rollout over the coming months, so don’t expect to be able to find it any time soon. We’ll see if it’s successful, or if Nintendo’s lawyers persist in finding a way to take this one down as well.
UPDATE: GitLab has removed access to Suyu and disabled dev accounts following a DMCA takedown request. GitLab didn’t say who was responsible for the DMCA takedown specifically, but they did note it came from a “representative of the rightsholder.”
